Message from the President
The countdown is on to the 2018 DMI Annual Dinner, happening 3 weeks from today! Trust me, you won't want to miss this event taking place on Monday, October 22nd from 5-8:30pm at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. We're excited to welcome urban visionary and best-selling author, Bruce Katz as our keynote speaker. I have read his recent book, The New Localism: How Cities Can Thrive in the Age of Populism and can't wait to hear him talk. The recipient of the 2018 Downtown Community Asset Award will also be announced--it's going to be a fun night! Last year's event sold out, so if you haven't already, I encourage you to sign-up today at:

I'm also happy to announce that after much thought and planning, DMI is now in the process of designing a new website! After receiving proposals from a wide range of highly qualified design firms, TMA+Peritus has been selected to help us create a new, engaging and informative site that will better serve the DMI membership and help us in our work to support a healthy and vital downtown Madison. Work on the new site has begun and from what we've seen so far from TMA+Peritus, I couldn't be more excited. Look for the official site launch coming in the next few months!

Jason Ilstrup,
DMI President

City of Madison currently seeking input for Historic Preservation Plan
The City of Madison is creating a Historic Preservation Plan and is looking for your help in identifying the places that have shaped the cultural, social, and physical character of the city. These places, no matter how big or small, are important in representing the collective history of all Madison residents. Please help them out by taking a picture of you at a place in Madison that is significant to you, your family, or community and tell us why you value it! Then send an email with the picture to [email protected].
