Message from the President

Happy Spring/Summer! It's that time of year when many downtown events and activities are ramping up for the warm weather season. Many of the great happenings are being planned by Madison's Central Business Improvement District (BID). Be sure to mark your calendars for the first ever Madison Night Market happening on Thursday, May 11, June 8 and July 13 from 6-11pm along Gilman Street. This new event will showcase local retailers, restaurants, artists and musicians. It will also feature handmade products, local art, artisan gifts, prepackaged foods, fresh produce and more!

From May through September check out the free public events taking place as part of the Summer in YOUR City programming series. Programs will include: YOUR Storytime at Lisa Link Peace Park, Ian's Open Mic Night on the top of State Street, the Live and Local concert series, YOUR Lunch Time Live and much more! For a full calendar of programs and activities, visit www.summerinyourcity.com.

And starting on Wednesday, May 3rd, everyone is invited to visit and enjoy the new Summer in YOUR City Café. This public outdoor cafe space (run by the BID) will be located on both "The Forum" and "The Grove" side of the top of State Street from 11am-2pm, Sunday through Friday. The bright, vibrant cafe will feature colorful bistro tables and chairs for anyone who wants to grab a coffee/soda/pasty/pizza/salad/popcorn, take a call, have a meeting, enjoy your lunch or just sit and celebrate our beautiful Capitol building.

With all of these activities taking place to celebrate Spring/Summer in downtown Madison, we look forward to seeing all of you! And remember-bring your friends and think about riding your bike downtown or renting a B-Cycle! All bike paths lead to downtown Madison and there is always plenty of bike parking!
