Message from the President
Happy almost spring to everyone! I would like to take this opportunity to remind all of our DMI members that we have six active committees and all members are welcome and encouraged to attend. Since we have a staff of four, we could not accomplish what we do without the work of our committees and we thank you all very much. Here is some work and results that have come out of the DMI committees over the past year.
Economic Development Committee: DMI TIF White Paper; DMI Affordable Housing White Paper; work on sustainable benchmarking. Transportation & Parking Committee: Work with the City of Madison to install "Pay by Space" meters; work with the City of Madison on the "Eco Program" Commute Card; work with the City of Madison on "Madison in Motion"-the city's transportation master plan; work with the City Parking Utility on parking rates; work with Dane County on regional transportation issues. Quality of Life/Safety Committee: Work with the State Street police officers on safety issues downtown; bring business/property owners together to make changes in the Upper State Street area. Bicycle Committee: Work with the city on bicycle infrastructure improvements; formed a committee that brought "Platinum Status" for biking to Madison; work on "Safe Routes to School" for kids. Government Relations Committee: Work on policy and advocacy issues; oversaw the interview process for DMI Candidate Endorsements in the 2017 Spring Common Council election. Membership Development Committee: Work on the DMI Ambassador program for new members.
This is a brief overview of past and current committee work. For more information, including committee meeting times, click here. Please join us in making downtown Madison the best it can be! We appreciate all of you. Thank you.
