Message from the President
Summer in Madison means events. Whether it's Concerts on the Square, Maxwell Street Days or Art Fair; thousands of people descend on downtown to have fun and spend their money. Events like these are very important to the health and vitality of downtown Madison. They ensure all our restaurants tables are filled, stores remain busy and our workers keep working. Without events in Madison, we would not have as many cultural amenities as we have today.

Last year saw a new event arrive in Madison; the CrossFit Games. Although it's held at the Alliant Energy Center, the impacts on downtown are pronounced. The attendees come to have fun and they want to do it downtown. The Games have quickly become an important part of Madison's vitality.

The CrossFit Games are magnificent for so many reasons: the incredible athleticism; the beauty of summer; and the complete transformation of the Alliant Energy Center Campus (this truly shows us how a renovated area will have a dramatic, positive impact on Madison).

Take my advice, get a ticket to this years CrossFit games. Your support of events like this will keep them in Madison, help the downtown economy and let Madison shine on a national stage.

DMI President
