Message from the President

Happy late summer to all of you! I think by now most of you know that I will be stepping down from my position as the President of DMI at the end of 2017. This has been the best job I could ever have and I want to thank everyone for all of your support! To be part of and watch DMI grow over the last 19 years has brought me great joy. I will not be leaving this city or the downtown-this is where my passion lies. I plan to stay involved in as many ways that I can to make sure that downtown Madison grows and is a place that is welcoming for everyone to live, work, start a business, visit and play. I think the next 5-10 years will be a time of challenges for the downtown but also a time of great opportunities-if I was 25 years younger I would apply for this job in 5 minutes! I will continue to work with and alongside all of you on this important work!

DMI has formed a search committee and they have retained The QTI Group for the process. An official job profile will be posted soon. If anyone has any questions for me please do not hesitate to call. Any concerns related to DMI's work and future plans please contact Stacy Nemeth/DMI Board Chair. I look forward to celebrating with all of you over the next five months especially at our annual State of the Downtown on Wednesday, September 20th from 7:30-9:00am at Overture Center for the Arts and DMI Annual Dinner on October 30th from 5:00-8:30pm at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center!

Susan Schmitz, DMI President
